Israeli strikes kill 8 in Lebanon ahead of talks in Washington

The Israeli military has intensified its attacks on Lebanon, targeting the city of Tyre.

The escalation Thursday comes ahead of security talks in Washington.

An Israeli soldier also was killed in a Hezbollah drone attack in northern Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced an expansion of military actions against Hezbollah following the group's use of fiber-optic exploding drones.

The conflict has displaced over a million people in Lebanon and killed thousands.

Talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials are set to take place Friday, but Hezbollah has dismissed them, focusing instead on Iran's involvement.
