Packers match franchise low by drafting only 6 players

Green Bay’s confidence in its returning players was evident from the way the Packers approached this week’s draft.

The Packers made just six draft selections to match their lowest total in franchise history.

General manager Brian Gutekunst had averaged 10 picks over his previous eight drafts.

Gutekunst said he liked the depth of his team and said the board didn't fall in a way that made him want to trade down for more picks.

Green Bay drafted four defensive players and only one offensive player.

The Packers traded up to take Florida kicker Trey Smack in the sixth round.
