A pioneering Royal Navy officer has been named as one of the three victims who tragically died in a helicopter crash at Sourton Down in Devon on Wednesday.
Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher was Britain’s only serving female Royal Navy commando, a distinction that earned her international praise, including recognition from NATO. The 31-year-old, who grew up in Virginia Water in Surrey, joined the University Army Officer Training Corps in 2012 and the University Air Squadron in 2013.
After a two-year stint as an exploration geologist for BP, she resigned in 2018 to accept a commission with the Royal Navy in May 2019.
