After months of delays, the European Parliament reached an agreement on Wednesday to give Ukraine a €90 billion loan, roughly C$140 billion.
The decision comes little more than a week after pro-Russia Viktor Orban, the president of Hungary, a member of EU, lost his country's national presidential election.
Reuters reports that Ukraine, without EU funds, could have run low on money in June.
