Ottawa has made a decision to negotiate a major defence purchase and it’s not with the U.S.
It’s called GlobalEye, an advanced aerial surveillance system developed in Sweden that uses Canadian-made jets.
Former Air Force general and chief of the defence staff, Tom Lawson, says while he doesn’t agree with the decision, he does think diversifying Canada's defence investments is a step in the right direction.
Lawson explains why he has concerns about this surveillance system, especially for use in the north.
