Tom Cruise's Daughter Has Officially Dropped Her Dad's Surname

Suri, the 20-year-old daughter of https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/katie-holmes/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Katie Holmes and https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/tom-cruise/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Tom Cruise, has changed her last name.

The student, who is https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/suri-tom-cruise-surname-change-reason-katie-holmes-b3022787.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">believed to be estranged from her father, has legally changed her surname to Noelle – her mum’s middle name – https://pagesix.com/2026/07/27/parents/suri-cruise-legally-severs-ties-with-estranged-dad-tom/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">according to Pennsylvania voting records.

Suri currently https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/suri-cruise-college-carnegie-mellon-b2559178.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">attends Carnegie Mellon University in the state.

In 2024, it was reported that the graduation pamphlet for her school, LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/katie-holmes-daughter-suri-trust-fund-tom-cruise_n_6755ff75e4b0015618ddf7fe">listed her as Suri Noelle. 

But it wasn’t clear at the time whether the name change was official or not. 

During that same graduation, https://pagesix.com/2024/06/22/parents/suri-cruise-celebrates-high-school-graduation-with-mom-katie-holmes/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Tom was notably absent and had been spotted at a Taylor Swift concert in London the day after.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri in 2006 – the same year they got married.

In 2012, they divorced; Tom has https://www.huffpost.com/entry/tom-cruise-reportedly-hasnt-seen-daughter-suri-in-three-years_n_57ab6451e4b0ba7ed23e9e44" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">reportedly been estranged from his daughter ever since.

In 2024, https://www.huffpost.com/entertainment/topic/katie-holmes" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Katie Holmes took to Instagram to dispel rumours that her ex-husband had set up a million-dollar trust fund for their daughter.

At the time, https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/katie-holmes-daughter-suri-trust-fund-tom-cruise_n_6755ff75e4b0015618ddf7fe">the actor wrote: “Completely false”, adding “enough”. 

During an interview with https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/58b83dd9e4b02a4e8ddadd29/details" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Town & Country in 2017, Katie said: “My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now.”

It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
