The Sky selected Gabriela Jaquez with the No. 5 pick the draft.
After assembling a playoff-caliber roster in free agency, the Sky now add an do-everything wing from UCLA's loaded championship roster.
Jaquez shined in the national championship game, scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in the win over South Carolina.
The upside with this pick is that Jaquez is just the kind of role player you want to connect things for your stars.
She can rebound, shoot, and cuts well.
The downside?
The rumors that one of the top for projected prospects might slip lower didn't pan out.
The Wings, who selected first for the second consecutive year, took Azzi Fudd.
The Lynx took Olivia Miles.
The Storm took Awa Fam Thiam and the Mystics took Lauren Betts.
Those prospects are much more likely to turn into stars.
The Sky still have two second-round and one third-round selection remaining.
Training camp opens April 19.
