The United States military launched what it said was a "heavy wave" of retaliatory air strikes against dozens of Iranian Revolutionary Guard targets overnight, following an Iranian missile attack directed at American forces in Jordan.

According to US Central Command, the two-hour operation hit key military command centres, missile facilities, and coastal defences.
Jordanian officials confirmed their air defence units successfully intercepted five incoming Iranian missiles.
