California Rep. Eric Swalwell is denying allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman twice, including once when she worked for him.
Swalwell is a leading Democratic candidate in the race for California governor.
The woman told her account to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The AP hasn't been able to independently verify her account.
Swalwell has disputed the allegations, suggesting it constitutes an attack on his campaign.
The allegations surfaced weeks before mail ballots are scheduled go out in advance of a June 2 primary election.
Other Democratic candidates are calling for Swalwell to drop out of the race.
