A man believed to be a high-ranking Russian military official in charge of ammunition supplies was assassinated with a car bomb near Moscow.

Surveillance footage caught the moment a car combusted in the middle of the street early on Tuesday in Balashikha, an industrial satellite town around six miles east of Moscow known for housing distinguished military personnel.

The victim was Col Damir Davydov, who headed the Russian defence ministry’s missile and artillery wing, according to The Insider, a Russian investigative outlet.
