Lebanon and Israel are holding direct diplomatic talks for the first time in decades.
The meeting is set for Tuesday in Washington following more than a month of conflict between Israel and Lebanese millitant group Hezbollah.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will participate alongside the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors.
The Lebanese government hopes the talks will lead to an end to the war, which has killed over 2,000 people in Lebanon.
Hezbollah and critics are skeptical, believing Lebanon lacks leverage.
Israel has continued its invasion of southern Lebanon, aiming to create what it calls a security zone.
Talks aim to ensure long-term security on Israel’s northern border.
