Congolese refugees who fled to Burundi return to Uvira

Thousands of Congolese refugees in Burundi have returned home to eastern Congo after Rwandan-backed rebels withdrew from a key town.

About 470 people crossed the border after fleeing violence around Uvira nearly four months ago.

They had sought shelter in the Busuma refugee camp in Burundi's Buhumuza province.

The U.N. reports that at least 33,000 Congolese have returned home as of March.

The M23 rebels withdrew from Uvira under international pressure.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees says the operation will continue for weeks, with at least two bus convoys each week.
