Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine faced bipartisan questioning on Capitol Hill about the war in Iran on Tuesday.
The Trump administration is seeking $1.5 trillion for defense in the 2027 budget proposal, a starting point for negotiations.
Hegseth called it "admittedly a historic budget" in his opening statement.
