Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said on Monday that Prime Minister Mark Carney is "pushing fear" in a recent address to Canadians on the relationship with the U.S.
In a video posted to social media, Poilievre said, "It's not surprising that the prime minister wants to distract from his costly failures by pushing fear and re-upping his rhetoric yesterday."
"Illusions are not reality," he said and added that "We cannot control what the U.S. does, to be fair, but we can control what we do to make Canada affordable and autonomous here at home."
This comes after Carney said on Sunday that Canada must address “weaknesses” created by its close ties to the United States, warning the country can no longer rely on its largest trading partner.
