Islamic militants have attacked a remote village in northeastern Nigeria, killing 11 people and leaving two critically injured.
Local officials say the attack occurred late on Tuesday in Pubagu, a community in Borno state.
Villagers attributed the violence to the extremist Boko Haram group.
The local council chairman said Pubagu had been considered a safe haven until this attack.
The two injured are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Assailants set several houses ablaze before leaving.
Boko Haram and other militant groups often exploit security gaps in Nigeria’s rural areas, causing ongoing violence.
