A powerful explosion has gone off at an ammunition factory near Rome - shortly after a fire broke out in a section for processing gunpowder.
The KNDS factory in Colleferro makes medium and large calibre ammunition.
The company also has a site in Ukraine.
Police said "complex operations" were underway to extinguish the blaze.
Earlier this week, a fire broke out at a facility in Bulgaria and spread to an ammunition factory, which also exploded.
