Ottawa police are investigating the city's first femicide of the year at a home on Ashbourne Crescent in Barrhaven.
CTV's Katelyn Wilson reports that a 30-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder after his 60-year-old mother was found stabbed to death.
Staff Sgt. Seth Curtis says the suspect turned himself in at a Hawkesbury hospital, while neighbour Dima Sleiman describes the victim as a "sweet" person who often bought gifts for local children.
