Indian activist on hunger strike for 20 days taken to hospital

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a Gen Z-led youth movement calling for political reforms, has reached a new flashpoint after police removed Indian activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk from his protest site in Delhi.

Wangchuk had spent 20 days on a hunger strike in support of the movement, surviving on only salt and water and reportedly losing more than 9kg before being taken away.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has now begun an indefinite fast, while supporters continue with plans for a march to Parliament and renewed calls for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign.
