23 soldiers killed in Boko Haram attack on Chad military post

Boko Haram militants have killed 23 soldiers in an attack on a military post in the Lake Chad region, Chad’s armed forces said Tuesday.

The attack happened Monday night on Barka Tolorom island.

Chad's military said 26 soldiers were injured, and a significant number of militants were neutralized.

President Mahamat Idriss Deby called the attack “cowardly.” The Lake Chad region is resource-rich and sees competition from various armed groups.

Boko Haram has killed thousands and displaced millions over the past decade and a half, according to the United Nations.
