NYPD officers arrested a Russian daredevil couple after they climbed the Empire State Building in New York City, unfurled a huge peace banner and appeared to stage a dramatic proposal high above Manhattan.

The pair, identified in reports as Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov, also known as Vanya Beerkus, were seen on the famous skyscraper’s 1,454ft antenna structure before being taken into custody.

The stunt sparked a major police response around one of New York’s most iconic landmarks.

Bodycam footage reportedly captured the moment officers confronted the climbers, while reports say they now face charges including burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
