New York Jets boost defense with Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey
The New York Jets selected Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Bailey provides coach Aaron Glenn with a strong pass-rushing presence for a defense that struggled last season.
The Jets have four selections in the first 44 spots, including the No. 16 pick and the first pick in the second round Friday night.
With Las Vegas linked to quarterback Fernando Mendoza at No. 1, the focus was on New York's choice between Bailey and Ohio State's Arvell Reese.
General manager Darren Mougey chose Bailey to boost a pass rush that ranked 31st in the NFL.
