Peruvians are voting on Sunday in elections many hope will bring stability after years of political turmoil.
The country has seen nine presidents in a decade, with presidents removed, imprisoned or forced to resign.
Critics say a new voting system allowing 35 presidential candidates is designed to split the vote and favour incumbent parties.
At least 49 people were killed in a government crackdown after Pedro Castillo was ousted in 2022.
Al Jazeera's Mariana Sanchez reports from Lima, Peru.
