CTV News CTV News

Ottawa police are launching a collaboration with the Rideau Centre and local retailers to identify patterns of coordinated merchandise theft.

CTV's Kimberley Fowler reports that the retail theft pilot has already resulted in approximately 300 charges and consolidated files on more than 100 repeat offenders.

Staff Sgt. Stephen Plummer says tracking repeated thefts will help investigators demonstrate the full financial impact of organized crime in court.
