DRC is no stranger to Ebola outbreaks. Why isn’t there a vaccine or treatment to help now?

The fast-growing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo came to the world’s attention only a little more than a week ago and is already the third-largest on record.

But it’s the 17th outbreak the country has dealt with since the virus was discovered there in 1976.
