Over 140 reports of pets in hot cars in B.C.

CTV News CTV News — 53sec

The BC SPCA says it has already received more than 140 reports of pets being left in hot cars so far in 2026, and that number is expected to rise with the temperatures.

The agency is urging pet owners to leave their animals at home while running errands in the heat, because even a few minutes in a hot car can have life-threating consequences.

It adds that parking in the shade with the windows down & air conditioning on is still not a reliable solution.
