He went on to say he’d found it “fascinating” that “in the last few years” AI had “sort of taken over Wall Street and the world of business and investment”, but pointed out that he’d “never seen a technology advancing so rapidly” being “so completely rejected by the public”.

He said that the “suspicion” towards AI was particularly prevalent among “young people”, highlighting that “the reaction to AI videos online” among “people my children’s age” has been “immediately calling it AI slop and coining that term and just putting it in a box”.

“I think [that] is a very healthy scepticism,” he added. “Because, technology is always going to give us great gifts, but it has to be viewed with scepticism.

“The motives of the people giving it also have to be viewed with scepticism.

That’s when we’ll get the best out of a new technology, rather than just blind faith that everything is going to be great.

And it’s actually pretty encouraging to see young people in particular being so suspicious of it.”
