What is the 10 a.m. Rule? Controversial firefighting strategy could be back

The Forest Service abandoned its "10 a.m. Rule" some 50 years ago after research showed that suppressing every wildfire as fast as possible could lead to more severe fires.

Now, some worry that recent changes in federal wildfire policy are shifting the U.S. back to that aggressive approach.
