Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar is meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels.

Magyar aims to unlock billions of euros frozen due to his predecessor Viktor Orbán's democratic backsliding.

Magyar's April election victory ended Orbán's 16-year rule, which had strained Hungary's relations with the EU. Concerns over corruption and judicial independence under Orbán led the bloc to freeze funds in 2022.

Magyar's government is working on reforms to access these funds, which are crucial for Hungary's struggling economy.
