Israeli troops have captured a strategic mountain topped with a Crusader-built castle in Lebanon.
Beaufort castle is a UNESCO-protected heritage site that Israel had occupied for 18 years, before withdrawing in 2000.
This is the deepest invasion into the country in more than a quarter-century, the military said Sunday.
Al Jazeera’s Lina Abu Akleh explains its significance.
