A warm welcome by French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday to Prime Minister Mark Carney set the tone for Canada and France to forge a closer bond.
“To deepen our defence and industrial cooperation today, the president and I are advancing a new general security of information agreement,” Carney said.
That agreement is set to boost classified information sharing between the two countries in fields like defence, cyber security and artificial intelligence, which the prime minister says will give Canadian companies better opportunities to compete for European contracts.
“I believe the next world order will likely be built out of Europe,” Carney said.
