Zoos and wildlife facilities in Alberta are taking steps to protect their birds from avian flu.

Outbreaks on commercial poultry operations in Alberta have been detected east of Edmonton and near Ribstone Creek in east-central Alberta on May 11, and northeast of Drumheller on May 16.
