Kemi Badenoch confronted Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions over the violence in Belfast, arguing that people expect politicians to secure the country’s borders.
She also condemned the burning of homes, destruction of public property and attacks on police, while Starmer called for calm and warned against anyone fuelling division.
Stormont First Minister Michelle O’Neill, Sinn Féin MLA Deirdre Hargey and Belfast Lord Mayor Róis Máire Donnelly also addressed the violent disorder, condemning the racist attacks and the targeting of families and homes across the city.
