I am not convinced a de facto referendum would be respected

I AM genuinely grateful to Alan Crocket (April 13) for his efforts to explain how Scotland might actually achieve its independence through the various democratic processes currently available to us.

In particular I have noted the two “essential steps” which he believes need to be taken to deliver our aim.
