A Democratic challenger who said she intends to drop out of November’s race for the US Senate in https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/nebraska">Nebraska to clear the way for an independent candidate has won the state’s Democratic primary.

Cindy Burbank ran against William Forbes, who https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/democrats">Democrats contended was a Republican plant in the race, with the intent to drop out if she won.

Forbes, a pastor who has https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/30/politics/nebraska-senate-trump-pastor">voted for Trump and https://flatwaterfreepress.org/a-trump-voting-nebraska-pastor-is-running-for-senate-as-a-democrat-he-insists-its-in-good-faith/">opposed abortion access, is currently registered as a Democrat.
