CTV's Katelyn Wilson reports that Ayres says affordability challenges and barriers to shelter access left her family without stable housing.
The family, including their pets, struggled to find accommodation that could keep everyone together.
Housing advocates say more than 16,000 households were waiting for subsidized housing at the end of last year.
