Mexican president gives away her World Cup tickets

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum celebrated Mexico’s first goal of the World Cup against South Africa from a public fan zone in central Mexico City, after giving her ticket for the opening match to a young amateur footballer.

She watched alongside Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada, having pledged to donate several World Cup tickets to amateur athletes to support fans priced out of the tournament and to promote women’s football.
