There are still no guarantees that all of Canada's provinces will agree to put American alcohol back on the shelves for the sake of this trade deal.
And even if they do, there are still questions over whether Canadians will have enough thirst for any liquor from south of the border.
Provincial boycotts of American alcohol have been a major trade irritant for U.S. President Donald Trump, who pointed to what he called “discriminatory” measures when he announced fresh tariffs on Canada last month, which were delayed until Saturday while both sides work on a trade deal.
As Heidi Petracek reports, many buyers are sticking to their changed shopping habits in response to Trump's tariff threats.
