Dr. Mehmet Oz, head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, has taken a turn in the White House briefing room.
Oz was speaking about the Trump administration's efforts to lower drug prices and combat health care fraud on Tuesday.
But when reporters asked about other pressing issues of the day — like Trump's surprise pick for acting director of national intelligence — Oz had little to offer.
He repeatedly stated that these questions were outside his expertise.
Oz's appearance highlighted the administration's struggle to respond to major news until Trump himself does.
Trump's press secretary Karoline Leavitt is currently out on maternity leave.
