Indian police on July 20 struck students protesting for education reforms with batons and fired tear gas shells in New Delhi.
Thousands of young demonstrators demanded the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over question paper leaks that affected more than 2 million students and led to some dying by suicide.
The founder of the self-named Cockroach Janta Party Abhijit Dipke said activist Sonam Wangchuk, who began a hunger strike on June 28, will continue the fast following the clashes.
