Vingegaard seizes control of Giro with solo win on brutal 14th stage
Jonas Vingegaard has taken the overall lead in the Giro d’Italia after a dominant performance on the 14th stage.
He attacked on the final climb with five kilometers to go and secured a solo victory.
Vingegaard has finished 49 seconds ahead of Felix Gall.
Jai Hindley was nine seconds further back.
The stage featured a challenging 133-kilometer route with five climbs.
Afonso Eulálio had been leading but finished nearly three minutes behind.
He remains second overall.
Sunday's 15th stage will be a flat 157-kilometer route offering some relief before the final week in the mountains.
