Iran claims it has shot down a US fighter jet over central Iran, with reports that a search and rescue effort is underway to locate two U.S. pilots.

In a sign that Donald Trump’s Middle East conflict is set to take a dangerous new turn, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has claimed it downed an “enemy” fighter jet over Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
