Dementia deaths more than doubled in Australia in the 15 years between 2009 and 2024, the https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/dementia/dementia-in-aus/contents/deaths-and-disease-burden/deaths-due-to-dementia#Dementia-deaths-years">latest available data shows, making it one of the most urgent public health issues.

According to the peak body Dementia Australia, without significant intervention more than 1 million Australians will be living with dementia by 2065.
