Trump reclassifies medical marijuana as a less dangerous drug

The Trump administration has reclassified state licensed medical marijuana as a less dangerous drug.

Before it was on the same level as heroin.

Now it’s moved from Schedule I to Schedule III which is the same as the painkiller paracetamol with codeine.

This major change will help with cannabis research and it’s a huge tax relief for licensed operators.

Marijuana is still illegal at a federal level but most states have legalised medical or recreational use of it.

A hearing is expected in June to consider reclassifying marijuana more broadly.
