As South Korea’s birthrate hit an all-time low, 10 men and 10 women — all single, in their 20s and 30s — gathered at a centuries-old Buddhist temple in the search for true love.
Blindfolded trust-walks, chats over tea and yoga by the beach were just some of the activities randomly-paired couples engaged with one another in to test their compatibility.
The Korean Buddhist Foundation for Social Welfare launched its matchmaking program in 2023 — and it continues to grow traction.
For 2026 alone, 4,225 singles applied for the two-day, one-night retreat, the foundation said.
Five couples ended up being a successful match, the organization revealed one day after the gathering at Yangyang County’s Naksansa Temple.
