Venice Biennale jury resigns against participation of Russia and Israel
Geopolitical tensions have once again spilled into the world of contemporary art, as the entire international jury of the Venice Biennale resigned on Thursday, just nine days before the prestigious event was set to open.
The move follows controversy surrounding Russia’s participation and a decision to bar prizes for countries accused of crimes against humanity, including Russia and Israel.
As a result, the announcement of winners, typically held at the opening, has been postponed until the fair’s closing in November, as Morgan Ayre reports.
