Weaver's fib: Tells injured Holmes he had name written in cap because `it just felt right to say'
Luke Weaver told a fib to Clay Holmes after helping the Mets secure a 6-3 win over the Yankees.
Weaver joked that he dedicated his performance to Holmes, who left the previous game with a broken leg.
Weaver admitted he made it up, saying, "Kids, don’t lie to your parents." Weaver came in with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, striking out two batters and ending the inning with a forceout.
Holmes is expected to be sidelined until at least August.
