A Russian soldier sent nearby troops diving for cover after a mounted machine gun appeared to spin wildly out of control during a military training exercise.
Dramatic footage circulating online appears to show the recruit firing a mounted YakB-12.7 machine gun when the weapon suddenly begins rotating uncontrollably, seemingly overpowering its mounting system.
The soldier clings on in an apparent attempt to regain control but is dragged around by the spinning gun as it gathers speed.
Moments later, he is violently thrown into the air and hurled over a nearby barrier, while an instructor standing close by narrowly avoids being struck.
