Juha Miettinen died after a seven car crash during a Nürburgring race in Germany.
The race was stopped immediately, and the rest of the event was cancelled.
Six other drivers were treated and are safe.
The cause is still under review.
Miettinen was an experienced endurance racing driver respected within the motorsport community.
