US President Donald Trump delivered an extraordinary broadside against Pope Leo XIV on Sunday, accusing the US-born pontiff of being "a very liberal person" and "terrible for foreing policy".

His comments came after Leo suggested over the weekend that a "delusion of omnipotence" was fuelling the US-Israeli war on Iran.
