Philippine senator arrested over kickback in flood-control project
A Philippine anti-graft court has ordered the arrest of Senator Jinggoy Estrada over allegations of pocketing millions in a flood-control project.
Estrada surrendered and posted bail on Friday, allowing him to remain free while the case proceeds.
The court has barred him from leaving the country.
Another warrant for a non-bailable charge is expected soon.
Estrada denies the allegations.
Meanwhile, Senator Ronald dela Rosa has gone into hiding after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest for alleged crimes against humanity.
These legal troubles are setbacks for Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, an ally of both senators.
